Design of Cultural Elements of Weifang Kites Based on Morris Semiotics

Abstract

The work aims to carry out a modern translation study on the typical elements of Weifang kite culture symbols based on Morris semiotics, so as to broaden the idea of innovative cultural experience of Weifang kite-related products and improve the inheritance of Weifang kites as the intangible cultural heritage. The deep connotation of the typical cultural elements was interpreted through the path of cultural translation. Through the theory of Morris semiotics, the innovative translation path of Weifang kite culture was revealed from the perspectives of symbology, pragmatics, semantics. Through the KANO model, the key features and user expectations in contemporary design were clarified. The applicability of the proposed strategy was verified through the method of case study. By constructing the KANO model, the user demand for Weifang kites was analyzed, and the cultural elements of Weifang kites were interpreted from the outside to the inside in the cultural interpretation stage, the spiritual values were first refined from the semantics level in the cultural translation stage, and then the patterns and symbols were subdivided from the pragmatics level, and finally the products were designed from the symbology level. A model of semiotic interpretation and translation path of cultural elements of Weifang kites is established, the translation strategy of Weifang kites in the modern context is put forward, the symbolic value of Weifang kite culture in today's society is excavate and the possibility of innovative application of Weifang kite culture is explored, further improving the inheritance of Weifang kites as the intangible cultural heritage.
