Design and Evaluation of Recyclable Express Boxes Based on AHP-EWM Methods

Abstract

In order to improve the recycling performance of express packaging and meet the needs of consumers, a multi-factor express box is needed to promote the green transformation and upgrading of express packaging. The work aims to propose a comprehensive assessment approach that combines the entropy weight method (EWM) with the hierarchical analysis method (AHP) to evaluate the recycling performance of express boxes. Firstly, the suitable evaluation index system was constructed. Based on this, a questionnaire survey was used to get the opinions of professionals in related domains regarding the design elements of recycled express boxes. Next, the AHP weight (subjective) and EWM weight (objective) of the evaluation index were calculated respectively. Combined with the subjective and objective weights, the comprehensive weight was finally obtained. Based on this, the scoring formula for the recyclable express box evaluation model (X) was established. Two cutting-edge express box programs were created and compared side by side with the most popular express boxes on the market to confirm the efficacy of the evaluation system. Following a thorough evaluation, the express box in rigid hinge connection design was determined to be the best option. The evaluation model built with the AHP and EWM techniques is capable of ranking the benefits and drawbacks of the express box design solutions in a reasonable manner and may offer useful direction for the creation and improvement of recyclable express box design solution. In addition to offering a thorough evaluation of the box performance, the scientific weight allocation of the model allows it to accurately represent the relative importance of various design elements, offering both a theoretical and practical basis for encouraging the environmentally friendly growth of the express packaging sector.
