Design of Public Facilities in Historical and Cultural Blocks Based on KANO-AHP-QFD

Abstract

The work aims to analyze the diverse needs of users for public facilities in the Wuzhou Historic and Cultural Block, integrate design elements that reflect the block's historical and cultural characteristics to optimize public facility design and enhance the overall block image. With public facilities in the Wuzhou Historic and Cultural Block as the research subject, the KANO model was employed for screening user need indicators. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was applied to construct a hierarchical model of user needs, calculate the weight values of user need indicators, and rank them. Based on the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) theory, user needs were translated into design elements, and a House of Quality (HOQ) was established to calculate the relative importance weights of these elements. The design elements with higher importance weights were then selected for use in the optimization of public facility designs. Guided by the results of the KANO-AHP-QFD method, the study addressed public facility design optimization from four perspectives: service needs, facility image needs, historical and cultural needs, and emotional needs of users. By accurately analyzing user needs for public facilities in the Historic and Cultural Block, this research develops public facility designs that balance functional attributes with historical and cultural characteristics. The findings provide both theoretical foundations and practical references for the design of public facilities in historic and cultural blocks in China.
