Research Progress on Empathy Measurement Methods from the Perspective of Design Neuroscience

Abstract

The work aims to alleviate the obstacles in the comparison and integration of existing empathy research results, and further understand and quantify empathy. Based on the fields of design and psychology, the relevant literature on the connotation, measurement methods and research progress of empathy were sorted out. The importance of empathy in design was clarified and the shortcomings of existing research were pointed out. The meaning of empathy was summarized in combination with psychology and design contexts, various measurement methods and their characteristics were interpreted, and the application of cognitive neuroscience technology in empathy measurement was discussed. In future research, multiple measurement methods should be combined to overcome research limitations, promote the development of empathy measurement research under the new perspective of "design neuroscience", and provide support for interdisciplinary dialogue between design and other disciplines.
