Inheritance and Innovation of Miao Architectural and Cultural Elements in the Design of Modern Furniture in Qiandongnan

Abstract

To better achieve the "nationalization" and "localization" development of furniture design, the work aims to study the design methods that combine modern furniture design with national culture to strengthen cultural and national confidence. Through literature research and field investigation, the development history, current evolution, and construction characteristics of local Miao architecture were clarified and sorted out. The cultural elements of Miao architecture in Qiandongnan were classified from six dimensions of "material", "shape", "color", "pattern", "structure", and "charm" and the unique design elements were extracted. The application mode of regional cultural symbols in modern furniture design was summarized based on actual design cases. By combining furniture design with national culture, the protection and innovation of regional national culture have been promoted to a certain extent, thereby enhancing the cultural and aesthetic value of products and providing new solutions for modern furniture characteristic design.
