Abstract

The work aims to solve the problem of kitchen facility operation panel design under the needs of the aging society, improve the operation experience of elderly users when using intelligent integrated stoves, and reduce the occurrence of failure mode during use. First of all, an IFMEA team was established, and 20 elderly users were identified. The improvement team was composed of data collectors, product designers, and interaction designers. After selecting the brand of the integrated stove operation panel, the HAZOP method was used to discuss the causes of failure modes during use, and the failure mode consequences and solutions were analyzed. Secondly, a user journey map was drawn to understand the user's psychology and purpose of use, build an exponential risk priority calculation model based on the problems encountered in the user journey map, and obtain the risk priority value. Then, the fault tree was applied to analyze the failure mode of the top event and conduct in-depth analysis of the top event. Finally, the design of the improved integrated stove screen was compared and verified. Eight intolerable failure modes were obtained by the IFMEA theory for elderly users in the process of using the integrated stove operation page. The redesign and optimization of the intolerable failure mode could improve the experience of elderly users. The case of selecting the integrated stove operation panel is analyzed, and the final results show that the proposed method can make the elderly users operate easily and reduce the use barriers, and the results can also provide help for other elderly-oriented equipment and user experience.
