Research Review of Social Innovation Design in the Context of Digital and Intelligent Trends: Interdisciplinary Integration and Trend Prospects

Abstract

The work aims to systematically review and summarize the development process, research hotspots and development trends in the field of social innovation design in the context of digital and intelligent trends in China and abroad, to provide a reference for the future development of social innovation design research. With the bibliometric method, the relevant literature in the core databases of CNKI and Web of Science from 2014 to 2024 was taken as the object, and CiteSpace and VOSviewer were adopted to draw data visualization maps, and carry out comparative and systematic analysis of social innovation design in terms of the number of publications, cooperation network, research hotspots, and research trends. In addition, practical case studies were incorporated to complement the interpretation of hotspots revealed by the bibliometric analysis. The number of publications in this field continued to grow and the interdisciplinary integration deepened. International research started earlier, with a steady increase in the number of publications, showing a relatively stable cooperation, and focusing on the social mechanism innovation design, collaborative governance models design and system design frameworks, while Chinese research has gradually emerged in recent years, focusing on specific scenarios, such as community renewal, rural revitalization, etc. Based on the literature analysis, the future development trend of social innovation design was summarized from five aspects of digital and intelligent integration, sustainability, cultural narratives, collaborative mechanisms, and data-driven evaluation. This study constructs a research landscape of social innovation design from multiple perspectives over the past decade, clarifies its development status and future evolution paths, identifies existing limitations, and provides a direction reference and data support for subsequent theoretical research and design practice.
