Multimodal Mindfulness Meditation Scenario Design for Shen Zhou's Jiecao Hut Based on Brainwave Interaction

Abstract

The work aims to explore the design of multimodal mindfulness meditation scenarios based on brainwave interaction and transform the Zen scenes and literati artistic conception elements in Jiecao Hut into an emotion regulation system guided by mindfulness meditation, responding to the urgent social demand for mindfulness meditation, emotion management, and physical and mental well-being amid the digitization of cultural heritage. A framework for interactive design based on restorative environment theory was proposed to digitally translate the scene reconstructions and cultural elements from Jiecao Hut. By integrating artificial intelligence, electroencephalography (EEG), and brain-computer interface (BCI) technologies, the framework integrated the artistic conception of literati with emotion regulation pathways, thereby constructing an experiential path for mindfulness meditation. The research findings include the recreation of the Garden of Jiecao Hut and the design of a meditation guided software interface that evokes the artistic conception of literati. Furthermore, an immersive meditation device with a corresponding brainwave feedback mechanism dynamically adjusted audiovisual feedback based on the user's brainwave state, effectively regulating emotions and enhancing meditation effectiveness. This study proposes an innovative interactive design framework by integrating traditional literati artistic conception and digital reproduction of classical real scenes with modern brainwave interaction technology. It not only promotes the digital revitalization of cultural heritage and the dialogue between ancient and modern times, but also provides new theoretical support and practical paths for brainwave-based mindfulness meditation and emotion regulation.
