Abstract

The work aims to address the challenges of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) inheritance in modern society and the inadequacies in user experience of ICH-based cultural and creative products by exploring innovative design strategies for such products from the perspective of multi-sensory experience to enhance the communicative power of ICH, improve users' cultural perception and the interactive value of products, thereby realizing the dynamic inheritance of ICH. This research combined literature review and case analysis to systematically sort out the application characteristics of multi-sensory experience in ICH products. Meanwhile, it adopted user research methods that integrated in-depth interviews and questionnaire surveys to extract users' emotional feedback and usage preferences during multi-sensory interaction, based on which design strategies were proposed. Finally, a typical ICH project was selected for design demonstration to verify the feasibility of the proposed design. The study identified the construction process of integrating multi-sensory experience into the cultural and creative products of the ICH item "Tieguanyin Tea-making Technique", and ultimately developed cultural and creative products that met users' multi-sensory needs. Integrating multi-sensory experience into the design of ICH-based cultural and creative products can effectively break the limitations of traditional design, enrich user experience, and promote the inheritance and innovation of ICH. The proposed design strategies provide an operable methodological approach for the design of ICH-based cultural and creative products, and hold practical guiding significance for promoting the development of the ICH cultural industry.
