Image Generation Design Methods for Quanzhou Festival Cultural and Creative Products Based on Extensional Semantics

Abstract

The work aims to explore innovative applications and methods for integrating extension semantics and AI image generation into cultural and creative design based on the diverse festival culture of Quanzhou. First, elements of Quanzhou's festival culture were collected to build an initial set of extension semantics. Next, through affective optimization, each element's cultural relevance and design value were evaluated, and core semantic terms were selected by sorting them in descending order of their comprehensive evaluation scores. Images related to each core semantic term were then collected to form an image dataset for design expansion, and image generation experiments were conducted using Stable Diffusion and various ControlNet models. Selected images were creatively recombined. Finally, the generated cultural and creative images were evaluated from an affective perspective. The design evaluation results indicated that applying extensional semantics to select cultural design elements, combined with AI-based image generation, had a certain level of feasibility and potential for scalability in cultural and creative design innovation. Exploring methods for applying AI image generation technology in Quanzhou festival cultural and creative design shows considerable effectiveness, providing a reference pathway for the digital innovation of traditional culture.
