Design of Apps for Amblyopia Treatment in Children Based on the Kano-QFD Model

Abstract

The work aims to develop an amblyopia treatment App based on the Kano-QFD model, focusing on a comprehensive analysis of the needs of both children with amblyopia and their caregivers to design a user-centric and highly functional application. With the Kano model, an in-depth analysis and classification of user needs was conducted, identifying basic, performance, and excitement requirements. These user needs were then mapped into specific functional requirements through Quality Function Deployment (QFD), with a quantitative assessment of each function's relative importance to prioritize the most critical user needs. Additionally, the EPO usability model was applied to optimize the App's information architecture, interaction design, and visual interface, enhancing usability, practicality, and effectiveness. A design framework for a children's amblyopia treatment App based on the Kano-QFD model was successfully constructed. The resulting design framework effectively integrated user needs with functional requirements, providing a robust solution for a high-usability amblyopia treatment App.
