Innovative Design of Exhibition Carriers Based on Jingsha Mortise and Tenon Woodcarving

Abstract

To address the inefficiency in disseminating Jingsha Mortise and Tenon Woodcarving, a Hubei Provincial intangible cultural heritage, the work aims to propose a systematic solution from an interdisciplinary perspective to optimize its communication channels and exhibition effectiveness. Through field investigations and interviews with inheritors, current bottlenecks in cultural transmission were identified. User demands were quantified and prioritized with the Kano model and Entropy Weight Method (EWM), guiding the design of an innovative mobile exhibition system for Jingsha Mortise and Tenon Woodcarving. Based on its mobility, the system integrated multi-sensory experience interaction modules (visual, auditory, tactile and olfactory) to provide users with an immersive exhibition environment, thereby enhancing the presentation effect of the craft and the depth of audience perception. From the perspective of mobility, this design meets the communication demands of high efficiency and broad coverage, while utilizing the multi-sensory interaction system to enhance user engagement and awareness. It provides a practical solution to the current issues of limited display methods and outdated communication media for the Jingsha Mortise and Tenon Woodcarving technique, and offers references and insights for future approaches to intangible cultural heritage communication and product design.
