The work aims to study the application of traditional Chinese patterns in furniture design under the visual rhetoric context, to provide broader ideas for furniture design, enrich the cultural connotation of furniture and make furniture design more innovative and full of cultural heritage. Through the case study method, starting with the history and current status of the application of traditional Chinese patterns in furniture design, the visual rhetoric was introduced briefly and an in-depth analysis was conducted on how to apply traditional patterns in furniture design under the visual rhetoric context. Under the visual rhetoric context, the application of traditional patterns in furniture design should follow these principles of selecting appropriate patterns based on their unique implications, choosing suitable forms of expression according to the characteristics of different patterns and the requirements of furniture, enhancing the visual effects of furniture design through rational pattern layout and combination, highlighting the visual impact of patterns with proper color matching, deepening the understanding and cognition of traditional culture and paying attention to detail processing to achieve harmonious integration between traditional patterns and furniture design.
