Design of Shopping Assistance Products for the Visually Impaired Group in Malls Based on KANO/FAST/FBS

Abstract

The work aims to precisely design shopping assistance products for the visually impaired group in malls, to enhance the shopping experience and quality of life. During the problem identification stage, the original needs of users were obtained through methods such as questionnaire surveys and interviews. Subsequently, the non-participatory behavior tracking method was used to conduct in-depth analysis of the shopping behaviors of the visually impaired group in malls, to identify potential needs. Then, the KANO model was utilized to quantitatively evaluate the attributes of user needs and obtain the priority of the needs. Further, the FAST function analysis system technology was employed to convert user needs into functions, and then the complex functions were decomposed into sub-functions step by step. Finally, the FBS model with sensory compensation integration method was adopted to achieve a reasonable mapping of product functions to structural parameters, and to realize the form of substituting other sensory organs for vision, thereby obtaining the various structural modules of the product and outputting the final design scheme. Based on this design process method, shopping assistance products that met the needs of visually impaired users were designed, improving the quality of life of users. Based on the KANO/FAST/FBS design process, the research is conducted on the shopping assistance products with the visually impaired group as the object, verifying the effectiveness of this design method, and providing a reference for the design and research of travel products for the special group.
