Design Pathway of Jingchu Cultural Smart Products for Wellness and Healthcare Scenarios

Abstract

To rectify the "superficiality" prevalent in adapting Jingchu cultural motifs for smart healthcare, notably the loss of morphological essence and the decoupling of semantics from engineering constraints, the work aims to propose a quantitative design pathway for the deep translation of regional culture into digital-intelligent products. A closed-loop system model comprising "Requirement Mapping-Semantic Computing-Engineering Integration-Prototyping" was developed for home-based elderly care. Firstly, NURBS modeling and Genetic Algorithms (GA) were synthesized to transform perceptual imagery, such as the phoenix motif, into digitized high-order surfaces that balanced aesthetic integrity with manufacturing tolerances. Secondly, Chime Bell (Bianzhong) rhythms were deconstructed and mapped onto linear motor vibrations and mimetic lighting, establishing a multimodal interaction logic across auditory, tactile, and visual dimensions. Finally, technical validation and design iterations were executed within a Living Lab framework, utilizing heart rate variability (HRV) and other physiological signals to evaluate user experience in situ. The research focus of this stage centered on the logical verification of the mechanism for "transforming cultural elements into design parameters". Through small-scale technical trials and expert validity testing, the feasibility of this closed-loop design pathway in terms of morphological translation accuracy and engineering adaptability was preliminarily verified. This research yields a quantifiable, verifiable workflow that evolves Jingchu aesthetics from symbolic labeling into engineering-adaptive terminal systems. By bridging the gap between cultural heritage and age-friendly design, the framework enhances cultural identity and provides a data-driven paradigm for the systematic revitalization of regional culture through industrial design.
