Upper Limb Rehabilitation Experience Design of Stroke Patients Based on Self-control Dilemma

Abstract

To address the issues of low compliance and Self-control Dilemma (SCD) in upper limb home rehabilitation for stroke patients, the work aims to construct an intervention model integrating positive experience design theory. Semi-structured interviews (n=13) combined with emotional granularity cards were used to explore patients' emotional pain points. Through designer workshops (n=6), dilemmas were deconstructed and reconstructed, establishing a two-dimensional intervention model of "psychological empowerment and behavioral guidance". The kinematic equations were established with the modified Denavit-Hartenberg (D-H) parameter method, and the system performance was verified through MATLAB simulation. The "Posit-Move" home rehabilitation system was developed, which integrated a six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) robotic arm to provide physical support, and construct a four-terminal closed-loop system of "software, hardware, physician and social support". Simulation results indicate that the system's end position error was less than ±2 mm with smooth trajectory planning, meeting the kinematic requirements for rehabilitation training. This model eases the conflict between patients' desire for instant gratification and long-term rehabilitation benefits. It proposes multi-dimensional intervention strategies covering "emotion, behavior and cognition", as well as an interactive mode combining static and dynamic states, offering a new design approach to address self-control dilemmas in rehabilitation scenarios.
