Interactive Product Design for Virtual Art Experience Based on the Technology Acceptance Model

Abstract

To address the prevalent experiential bottlenecks in virtual art experiences, the work aims to construct a theoretical model of users' usage intention toward interactive products, systematically revealing the key factors and underlying mechanisms influencing their design. By integrating the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with Flow Theory, hypotheses were proposed from three dimensions of narrative coherence, interaction naturalness and environmental immersion. Data were collected through 302 valid questionnaires and empirically tested through Structural Equation Modeling. A design practice was conducted based on the "Van Gogh's Autumn Cloudscape" virtual art experience project, resulting in the formulation of three design strategies. Narrative coherence, interaction naturalness, and environmental immersion served as significant antecedents driving usage intention. Perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and flow experience played key mediating roles, with perceived usefulness exerting the strongest influence. A key factor chain comprising flow experience, perceived usefulness, interaction naturalness, narrative coherence, environmental immersion, and perceived ease of use is identified. Three design strategies of narrative-driven, interactive connection, and immersive experience are proposed and validated through practice, providing theoretical and practical references for the design of virtual art experience interactive products.
