Design of Cultural and Creative Products Based on the enealogy of Jingdezhen Ceramic Culture

Abstract

Jingdezhen boasts a rich heritage of ceramic culture and among its four famous types of porcelain, Famille Rose porcelain stands out prominently as an essential part of Jingdezhen's ceramic culture. By tracing the cultural genes of Famille Rose porcelain, the work aims to extract cultural elements, and construct a cultural gene map to guide the design of Famille Rose porcelain cultural and creative products, thereby achieving the modern translation of cultural symbols. Based on the theory of cultural genes, the cultural genes of Famille rose porcelain were divided into two categories: dominant and recessive. The dominant genes were the external expression layer, including the outline of the vessel, color genes, and pattern patterns. The recessive genes were the internal meanings, including craftsmanship techniques, composition principles, and cultural connotations, constructing a cultural gene genealogy map. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was employed to ascertain and rank the weights of factors, introducing cultural factors into cultural derivatives according to the ranking for design practice. As a result, with the tea set series products as an example, cultural derivatives based on the gene of Famille rose porcelain culture were generated, promoting the inheritance and development of Famille rose porcelain culture. The theory of cultural genes and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) can systematically and comprehensively sort out the cultural genes and characteristics of Famille rose porcelain, present the origin and system of Famille rose porcelain culture, achieve the modern translation of Jingdezhen ceramic cultural symbols, and provide good reference for the inheritance and development of intangible cultural heritage.
