Abstract

The work aims to propose an innovative approach to Product Service System Design (PSSD) tailored for "new species" in the digital-intelligence era, so as to enhance the ability of existing PSSD methods to address issues such as dealing with heterogeneous stakeholders, contextual misalignments, and barriers to implementation. Building on PSSD theory, an innovative framework for "new species" product service system design structured by "service value - service resource - service process" was proposed. With the passenger-carrying unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) based scenic tourism services as an example, case analysis and design verification were carried out. The proposed approach to "new species" product service system design facilitated the design evolution from service prototype construction to a service solution resource library in case practice and accommodated diverse users and their demands through adaptive service schemes, thus offering a discussable reference path for "new species" product service system design. The approach constructed in this work has the potential to address the poor adaptability of traditional service design methods when applied to complex digital-intelligent product service systems, and delivers practical value for advancing the development of "new-species" product service systems and the innovation of service solutions.
