Extraction and Design Application of the Three Carvings Decorative Genes of the Li Family Courtyard in Southern Shanxi from the Perspective of AIGC

Abstract

The work aims to take the Three Carvings of the Li Family Courtyard as the object to explore its cultural genes under the AIGC horizon and study its design application in cultural derivatives while satisfying user demands. Firstly, through field research, the forms, patterns, colors, and semantic genes of the Three Carvings decorations in the Li Family Courtyard were analyzed. The AHP was employed to quantitatively analyze and determine the weights of each cultural factor, and the design factors were ranked and selected. Secondly, the shape grammar was applied to reconstruct the design factor and combine the design pattern, and the design samples were intelligently generated with the help of the AI generation tool Midjourney. Based on the Likert five-point scale, the design sample was further optimized and a questionnaire survey was conducted. After verified by reliability and validity test, the design sample that best conformed to the decoration culture of the Three Carvings of the Li Family Courtyard was selected and applied to the design of cultural derivatives. In the AIGC perspective, the gene map and judgment matrix evaluation model of the Three Carvings Decoration of the Li Family Courtyard in southern Shanxi were constructed. The cultural factor with the highest weight was selected to carry out the intelligent auxiliary design of the design pattern and applied to cultural derivatives, exploring a new path of digital intelligence empowering cultural protection. This research integrates cross-disciplinary theoretical models from multiple fields, extracts the decorative genes of the Three Carvings in the Li Family Courtyard of southern Shanxi, and applies AIGC to the design process. It provides new ideas for translating modern decorations based on Three Carvings while empowering contemporary value transformation and innovative applications within cultural heritage, bringing significant quality improvements in terms of efficiency while integrating design resources and expanding inspiration sources.
