Abstract

Against the prevalent "function-first" orientation in the current design of cruise public spaces, there exist prominent problems such as severe homogenization of spatial organization and design, fragmented experience, and lack of narrativity. The work aims to introduce the four-dimensional narrative model to explore the design approach for transforming cruise spaces from functional carriers into experiential spaces, and create multi-dimensional immersive experiences to elevate the essential value of cruise ships. Adopting a research method that combined narratological theoretical analysis with practical analysis of cruise space design, this study systematically interpreted the core logic of the four-dimensional narrative model. Taking three-dimensional physical space as the framework and the time dimension as the main narrative thread, it constructed a cruise space design strategy integrated with four-dimensional narration, so as to realize the unity of function, aesthetic experience and brand value in cruise space design. The application of the four-dimensional narrative model broke through the static paradigm of traditional spatial design, and formed a narrative system featuring spatial hierarchy, temporal rhythm and cultural memory. It provides a brand-new theoretical perspective and practical method for cruise space design, promotes the transformation of cruise spaces from functional carriers to emotional narrative fields, and offers a feasible path for differentiated design and experience upgrading of cruise public spaces.
