Innovative Design of Hainan Li Brocade Patterns in Cultural and Creative Products

Abstract

The work aims to explore innovative design methods for Hainan Li Brocade patterns in cultural and creative products to facilitate the living inheritance and modern transformation of Hainan Li Brocade as the intangible cultural heritage, so as to meet the aesthetic and functional demands of the contemporary consumer market for ethnic cultural products. By integrating field research with Kansei engineering, the artistic features and cultural connotation of Li Brocade patterns were analyzed, the morphological and color genes of representative patterns were extracted, and the shape grammar was applied to deduce and derive basic pattern elements to generate innovative patterns with both traditional charm and modern aesthetic feeling. Combined with user research and market analysis, tea and coffee packaging was selected as the design carrier to realize the organic integration of patterns and products. A complete design workflow covering pattern extraction, shape grammar derivation, color integration and product adaptation is constructed, generating multiple sets of innovative patterns and color schemes featuring distinctive cultural recognition and modern aesthetics. Design practices verify that the design method integrating shape grammar and Kansei engineering can effectively facilitate the transformation of Li Brocade patterns from traditional symbols to modern design languages. It provides a feasible route for the systematic development of intangible cultural heritage cultural and creative products, and contributes to the dissemination and revitalization of traditional culture in contemporary life.
