Design of "Shared Grandparent-grandchild" Public Fitness Facilities Connecting Families and Communities

Abstract

As an intermediary between society and families, communities serve not only as venues for practicing geographical relationships but also as buffer zones for consanguineous ties. The work aims to explore an intergenerational integration path with community public fitness facilities as the carrier by constructing a "shared grandparent-grandchild" model, thereby addressing the dual dilemmas of alienated neighborhood relationships and intergenerational conflicts within families. This research examined the transformation of external family structures, the evolution of traditional family forms, and the rise of intergenerational childcare models to analyze the internal and external difficulties faced by individual families. Design strategies were developed based on the six attributes of the intergenerational integration theory, structure, function, emotion, consensus, norms, and connection, and subsequently translated into practice. Key design principles for community public fitness facilities under the "shared grandparent-grandchild" model were derived, promoting diverse community interactions. Through the dual sharing of facilities and relationships, intergenerational interaction is extended from the private sphere of the family to the public sphere of society. This provides a social pathway for reconstructing family functions and redefines the ways in which emotional bonds are formed in modern communities.
